Department of Art and Design welcomes Charles Kanwischer for Artist's Lecture

Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music Presents Collage Fundraising Concert

David J. Beck Fellowship Ceremony

Inspirational Woman Award Reception

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is hosting the Lamar University Inspirational Woman Award Reception. The 2022 theme is "Women Providing Healing, Providing Hope." The keynote speaker is Dr. Cynthia Stinson, chair for the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing.


3rd Annual Recovery and Resiliency Summit Registration

Date: April 4 and 5, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Registeration for the Recovery and Resiliency: Building A Collaborative Community 3rd Annual Research Summit is now open. The primary focus of the RnR Summit this year will be to foster a collaborative community approach to strengthen recovery from recent challenges.

Outlook for Android will require Android 8.0 or above starting May 23

Beginning May 23, Outlook for Android will no longer support Android 7.1 or below. Users will need to upgrade their Android operating system to at least Android 8.0.
 
How this will affect Lamar University users:
If LU students, faculty or staff are using Outlook for Android on phones or tablets running an older version of Android, they will no longer be able to update to newer versions of Outlook for Android when this change is implemented.
 
What you need to do to prepare:
Please ensure that you update your phone or tablet’s operating system to Android 8.0 or newer.

Nominations are open for the LU Inspirational Woman Awards

The 2022 Women's History theme is "Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is accepting nominations to honor caregivers and front line workers during this ongoing pandemic. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 10 at 5 p.m.


Chrome River Travel Request System Launching February 22

Lamar University's Travel Office is launching Chrome River, its new online travel request & management system, on Feb. 22. No more print forms, receipts or signatures. Convenient electronic travel requests & routing.


Faculty Mentor Award Call for Nominations

The Office of Undergraduate Research is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2022 Faculty Mentor Award. This award honors an undergraduate research mentor for his/her success in mentoring UG students in research. We are accepting self-nominations as well. Please send nominations to cbahrim@viableenergynow.com by March 1 at 8 p.m.


Black Gospel Music Moments on KVLU

In celebration of Black History Month, KVLU will feature "Shout! Black Gospel Music Moments" each Sunday in February at 8 p.m. Tune in to 91.3 FM and kvlu.org for stories and recordings from the Baylor University Libraries' Black Gospel Music Restoration Project.


Dishman Art Museum presents COHABITATION

COHABITATION, featuring Mayuko Ono Gray and Mark Greenwalt, is currently on display in the Dishman Art Museum through Mar. 5. DRAWINGS, featuring Charles Kanwischer, can be viewed on the second floor gallery during this time. Admission to the Dishman Art Museum is free and open to the public.


Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (S.U.R.F.)

The Office of Undergraduate Research invites all majors at LU to submit grant proposals to the SURF 2022 program. Please visit the SURF guidelines for submission, eligibility criteria and the benefits for being a SURF fellow.


CMMS featured in AES "Universities in the Spotlight"

We are proud to announce that LU’s Center for Midstream Management and Science has been featured in American Energy Society’s spotlight issue: Universities in the Spotlight. This issue consists of 20 academic programs and their contributions to the energy sector.

Library seeking student and faculty input on study rooms!

Throughout February and March, the Mary and John Gray Library is seeking student and faculty participants for a focus group assessment on study room design and preferences. The deadline to sign up is March 15.


The LU Tutoring Center is Open

Simio Approves In-Kind Grant to the Center for Midstream Management and Science

Simio LLC has approved an in-kind grant valued at $216,000 to Lamar University's Center for Midstream Management and Science. This grant includes 90 copies of Simio® Academic Edition software that will be used in research and education in digital manufacturing.

COVID19 Vaccines
COVID-19 Vaccines Available

Free COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are available at the Student Health Center to all Lamar University/LIT students, faculty and staff. You must register for an appointment. 

The Student Health Center is also offering COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible students, faculty and staff for LU and LIT campuses. Eligibility criteria can be found on the CDC website. Please fill out the registration form for an appointment.
